There are already 40 suppliers who have set up factories in the United States with TSMC

In its reply to the Ministry of Commerce, TSMC pointed out that it is cooperating with 40 suppliers, and these suppliers are successively setting up bases near Fab 21.

"The facilities of these companies are close to the TSMC power plant, which can reduce costs and facilitate immediate coordination. For some Taiwanese companies that come to the United States to set up factories, the financial challenges are not small, and there is no bilateral tax agreement between Taiwan and the United States, which increases the The cost for these manufacturers to move funds to the United States.”

TSMC mentioned that the suppliers that jointly "re-establish advanced manufacturing processes in the United States" with TSMC include Taiwanese factories such as Sunlit Chemical, Li Changrong Chemical, and Changchun Petrochemical, as well as Dutch ASML, Tokyo Electron, Applied Materials, Lam Research, etc.

"They are critical to TSMC's success and should be well considered (by the U.S.) for funding subsidies."

Sunlit chemical products range from toothpaste fluoride to semiconductor grade hydrofluoric acid

Compared with the long-established Li Changrong Group or Changchun Petrochemical, Sunlit Chemical, whose headquarter is located in Guanyin, Taoyuan, is much less well-known.

Domestic media have reported that Sunlit Chemical, whose stock is not listed on the counter, is actually the second largest supplier of hydrofluoric acid in the world. Sunlit Chemical, which started as a trader, originally planned to buy technology from Japan when it wanted to transform into self-made products, but Japanese companies were unwilling to cooperate in technology.

Sunlit Chemical simply developed it by itself, starting from the fluoride used in toothpaste, making it pharmaceutical grade, and finally making it the top semiconductor grade hydrofluoric acid.

Some industry sources revealed, "The raw material for fluoride is fluorite, and China has the largest reserves in the world. However, China can only produce industrial-grade hydrofluoric acid, while Taiwan can produce semiconductor-grade hydrofluoric acid."
